Hi, Square Dealers!

We had a blast at our Amateur Caller NIght!  It is just awesome that KSD has so many callers-in-training!  Al, Julia, Dan, Shawn, Charlie, and Jim — thank you from all of us for a truly fun night — we're looking forward to Thursday, 5/17, for the next Amateur Caller NIght!

And speaking of fun, Derby de Mayo was a hoot!  Lovely ladies in big, beautiful pink hats and a refreshment table filled with Mexican goodies — what's not to like?!  Thanks to everyone who contributed to the festivities!

We scheduled a meeting for last Friday, then said "no, thank you."  Did you wonder why?  We were going to ask if you wanted to do Blairsville again this year.  After talking to some of our officers, we were reminded that everyone said to do a repeat right after the great event last year.  We cancelled the meeting, but we do need a volunteer to coordinate with Enchanted Squares and Silver Stars.  Please contact Jim or Karen if you'd like to be the KSD Blairsville coordinator.

Al & Julia's son is home now recovering from his rollerblading accident.  Pat Tumlin is on crutches from a fall that broke her kneecap.  Pam Swartz is / was in the hospital, but recovery is in progress.  Judy Bodnar was in a fender-bender and injured her neck.  If you have updates on any of our KSD friends, please let us know and we'll share with the group.  And please keep these folks in your prayers for speedy recoveries all around!

According to our event calendar, there is a Fun Badge Olympics coming in July.  This requires some planning so that the dangles can be ordered well in advance of the dance.  Could we get a volunteer to plan the activities, please?  Cari is definitely willing to help, but she knows from past events that it needs at least two people to manage the activities.  Please let us know if you are interested!

Have a great weekend at our visitation dances!

Hi, Square Dealers!

What a wonderful weekend!  The Earth Day / Salad Day dance on Friday was very well attended and our refreshment table was bountiful!  We had about 20 folks marching in the Big Shanty Festival parade on a simply gorgeous day!  The demo dance had two squares plus extra folks for rotation.  Thanks to Al & Julia and Dan for the calling!  And thanks to the Collar Committee for making the fancy fringe for the ladies!

From our signup sheets, we have just one square for each demo dance at the Jonquil Festival event in Smyrna this weekend.  As a reminder, Saturday April 28th the demo is at 12:00-12:30, and Sunday April 29th it's at 12:30-1:00.  Elaine Vess is looking for additional volunteers.  Same attire as last weekend:  black below the waist and red or white above the waist.  Ladies, if you still have your collar, bring it with you.  If not, see Elaine at the event.  The location is Smyrna Community Center, 200 Village Green Circle SE, Smryna 30080.  Here's a Mapquest link: http://mapq.st/I2vY4r.  Please sign up at class Thursday, call Elaine, or contact one of the officers — thanks!

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Apr 27    – Visitation at Cherokee Squares / American Squares Combo Dance in Woodstock 8:00-10:00
